Since my diagnosis, I have been showered with gifts, cards, well-wishes, hugs, kisses and love from the people in my life. It's been pretty darn incredible. I've also been fortunate enough to connect with a few organizations that have donated services to our family. You've probably read in previous posts about the house cleaning I "won" from Clean Conscience, but I've also been recipient to lawn service from a program called There With Care. I'm getting incredibly spoiled!
This program was originally created for families with children facing critical illness, but have grown to donate services to adults as well. I couldn't be more thankful for them. With hubby back to work, and my energy level down, having someone to come over and mow our lawn once a week is a blessing. Especially since there are two young fireballs who love to run around in the back yard. The fella who comes over is Australian and so nice. He hasn't been personally effected, but his wife has a friend who has been. He came over yesterday, in the heat of the day, to cut our grass and did so with enthusiasm (well, maybe that's a bit strong, but you know what I mean.)
Hubby and I have vowed to volunteer for There With Care once things settle down and I would like to encourage others to do the same (if you're looking for something philanthropic.)
I cannot wait to pay it forward!
