No treatment plan ever goes as planned.... and neither is mine, unfortunately.
The good news is that my lymph nodes came back clear- he officially took 15 out. The not so good news is that even though the margins from the lumpectomy are clear from cancer, they do have DCIS or precancerous cells, in 2 spots. He's recommending another surgery to just shave those spots.
We asked if mastectomy was recommended and he said no. He thinks for a patient who is committed to breast conservation surgery (hey, that's me!) that it is completely realistic to simply go back in and take out a little more and have a successful lumpectomy.
So....it's a glitch, but a minor one. I'll keep you posted.
That Is Only A Glitch!!
